and 5th grade students merged together for a week to practice the writing
process and publish scary stories. Mrs. Simonoff and Mrs. Hernandez’s
ELAR classes researched some of the scariest places in San Antonio, and
then re-told the stories from a third person omniscient point of view.
writing compositions were then illustrated, and shared around an
artificial indoor campfire. Students practiced listening, speaking (eye
contact, speaking rate, volume, enunciation, gestures), student-led
discussions, and teamwork.
It was an excellent experience, and we are so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm.
